What the heck is High On Fat???

Okay, so I realize the name of my blog can initially be a little off putting. Fat. Say it with me out loud, "Fat". It just sounds like a dirty word, the other "F" word, and one we usually use to describe something unpleasant. Whether we are referring to the excess amount we carry on our bodies or your concern that eating bacon will magically transfer its way into the walls of your arteries and clog them, its always the same negative correlation.

Well my friends, I am here to change that. Contrary to popular belief, fat is your friend.

Thats right, and while there are plenty of unhealthy fats we should still be avoiding, its the ones you probably still fear that should be on the yes list of approved foods. Butter, lard, yolks, nuts, red meat, full fat dairy... oh now I'm just getting hungry!

My purpose on this blog is simple: Reverse the fat phobia.

I have spent most of my life struggling to manage my weight. From childhood obesity to being overweight through high school and well into my adult years. I never understood how I could cut my calories, eat fat free dairy, sauté my veggies in PAM (gross, right?), eat low fat buttery alternatives and chicken breasts for days and still be overweight. I was beyond frustrated and you can imagine the absolute disbelief I experienced when I learned that I may have simply had it wrong all along.

Fat was never the evil culprit behind weight gain and heart disease in our nation. In fact, it was the absence of this vital macronutrient that has been to blame.

So with that introduction I welcome you. Here you will continue to find plenty of information about real food and insight to my personal trials and errors throughout the years. I hope to enlighten you about this fat fallacy we have been fed and reverse those thoughts that come to mind when we hear the word "Fat".

Say it again with me, "Fat".  Didn't leave such a bad taste in your mouth this time, now did it?
We'll work on it....

OMG. I love this site! You did just an amazing job! I'm so excited to read more
Blogs from you and to be more educated on healthy ways to intake fat. As a bikini model it's definitely been a phobia of mine, and I hope I learn to consume bacon without guilt!! That would be awesome!!! :)

So you base this on the amount of servings and combination and lipids to savior the taste you like in your meals?

Im not sure what you mean by that, could you explain your question a little better? The amount of fat I eat is partially for taste, but also for energy.

It can. So you will want to start slow. I personally don't recommend eating fat by itself when you are just starting out. I can consume a tbsp of coconut oil with no ill side effects, while someone else may not be able to handle a tsp. Maybe start with cooking your whole eggs in butter and go from there.

I'm Alexandra; blogger, paramedic, and eater of fat.
I eat bacon daily, take my coffee with heavy cream, eat the yolks and consume coconut oil by the spoonful. Because of this, I have never been healthier or happier in my life. Welcome to my blog, where I intend to abolish the fat phobia that plagues us and give dietary fat the healthy reputation it deserves.
